Is 45:22; 66:13 (to ;)

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else….  As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you;

Deut 32:9-12

For the Lord's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:

So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him.

Ps 17:1,5,7-9, 15; 18:1

Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.

Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.

Section I

( 1)   Deut 5:16 (to ;)

Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee;

( 2)   Ex 19:3,4 I bare

And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel;

I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

( 3)   Job 38:36

Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

( 4)   Job 39:27,28

Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high? She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.

( 5)   Ps 36:7

How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

( 1)   6:17 (only)

    "God is Love."

( 2)   256:7

Love, the divine Principle, is the Father and Mother of the universe, including man.

( 3)   332:4-5

VIII.  Father-Mother is the name for Deity, which indicates His tender relationship to His spiritual creation.

( 4)   502:27

The creative Principle — Life, Truth, and Love — is God. The universe reflects God.  There is but one creator and one creation. This creation consists of the unfolding of spiritual ideas and their identities, which are embraced in the infinite Mind and forever reflected. These ideas range from the infinitesimal to infinity, and the highest ideas are the sons and daughters of God.

( 5)   16:26-29

Our Father which art in heaven,

  Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious,

Hallowed be Thy name.   Adorable One.

Section II

( 6)   Ps 69:16

Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

( 7)   I Sam 1:2 Hannah had, 8-11, 17-22, 24,26-28

Hannah had no children.

Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons? So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk.  Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord. And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore. And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him. And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad. And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her. Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord. And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the Lord the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord, and there abide for ever.

And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh: and the child was young.

And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord.  And he worshipped the Lord there.

( 8)   I Sam 2:18-21 Samuel (to 1st .), 26

Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod. Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the Lord.  And they went unto their own home. And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters.

And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the Lord, and also with men.

( 6)   2:8-11, 23-23 (to .)

God is not moved by the breath of praise to do more than He has already done, nor can the infinite do less than bestow all good, since He is unchanging wisdom and Love.

    God is Love.

( 7)   592:16

MOTHER.  God; divine and eternal Principle; Life, Truth, and Love.

( 8)   517:7

The life-giving quality of Mind is Spirit, not matter. The ideal man corresponds to creation, to intelligence, and to Truth.  The ideal woman corresponds to Life and to Love. In divine Science, we have not as much authority for considering God masculine, as we have for considering Him feminine, for Love imparts the clearest idea of Deity.

( 9)   60:6-10

The beautiful in character is also the good, welding indissolubly the links of affection. A mother's affection cannot be weaned from her child, because the mother-love includes purity and constancy, both of which are immortal.

(10)   236:12-17

A mother is the strongest educator, either for or against crime. Her thoughts form the embryo of another mortal mind, and unconsciously mould it, either after a model odious to herself or through divine influence, "according to the pattern showed to thee in the mount."

(11)   61:11

The offspring of heavenly-minded parents inherit more intellect, better balanced minds, and sounder constitutions.

(12)   260:7

The conceptions of mortal, erring thought must give way to the ideal of all that is perfect and eternal. Through many generations human beliefs will be attaining diviner conceptions, and the immortal and perfect model of God's creation will finally be seen as the only true conception of being.

Section III

( 9)   Prov 7:2-4

Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

(10)   Judg 4:4-7 Deborah, 13,14 (to ?), 23

Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time. And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun? And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.

And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon. And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the Lord hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the Lord gone out before thee?

So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.

(11)   Judg 5:1,3,7

Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.

The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

(12)   I John 4:16-18 (to :)

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.  God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:

(13)   410:14,29-30

Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger.  The more difficult seems the material condition to be overcome by Spirit, the stronger should be our faith and the purer our love. The Apostle John says: "There is no fear in Love, but perfect Love casteth out fear. . . . He that feareth is not made perfect in Love." Here is a definite and inspired proclamation of Christian Science.

Christian scientific practice begins with Christ's keynote of harmony, "Be not afraid!"

(14)   268:11

In this revolutionary period, like the shepherd-boy with his sling, woman goes forth to battle with Goliath.

(15)   454:18-21

Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way. Right motives give pinions to thought, and strength and freedom to speech and action.

(16)   225:8,21

The powers of this world will fight, and will command their sentinels not to let truth pass the guard until it subscribes to their systems; but Science, heeding not the pointed bayonet, marches on. There is always some tumult, but there is a rallying to truth's standard.

Love is the liberator.

Section IV

(13)   Num 26:33 Zelophehad

Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

(14)   Num 27:2-7

And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the Lord in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons. Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son?  Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father. And Moses brought their cause before the Lord. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

(15)   Ps 16:5,6

The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

(16)   Ps 37:18

The Lord knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

(17)   224:22-25, 31 (only)

A higher and more practical Christianity, demonstrating justice and meeting the needs of mortals in sickness and in health, stands at the door of this age, knocking for admission.

No power can withstand divine Love.

(18)   63:2-20, 23

that flannel was better for warding off pulmonary disease than the controlling Mind, if you understood the Science of being.

In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being.

Civil law establishes very unfair differences between the rights of the two sexes. Christian Science furnishes no precedent for such injustice, and civilization mitigates it in some measure. Still, it is a marvel why usage should accord woman less rights than does either Christian Science or civilization.

Our laws are not impartial, to say the least, in their discrimination as to the person, property, and parental claims of the two sexes.

A feasible as well as rational means of improvement at present is the elevation of society in general and the achievement of a nobler race for legislation, — a race having higher aims and motives.

(19)   227:14-15, 17 All, 24-26

Discerning the rights of man, we cannot fail to foresee the doom of all oppression.

All men should be free. "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Love and Truth make free, but evil and error lead into captivity.

Citizens of the world, accept the "glorious liberty of the children of God," and be free! This is your divine right.

Section V

(17)   Mark 6:34

And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.

(18)   Mark 7:25-30 a certain

a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

(19)   Rom 5:3-5 we

we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

(20)   Gal 5:22 the, 23

the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

(20)   270:23-24

Meekness and charity have divine authority.

(21)   12:27-29,31-3

Does Deity interpose in behalf of one worshipper, and not help another who offers the same measure of prayer?

In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as "a very present help in trouble."  Love is impartial and universal in its adaptation and bestowals.

(22)   454:22

Wait patiently for divine Love to move upon the waters of mortal mind, and form the perfect concept.  Patience must "have her perfect work."

(23)   494:10

Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need. It is not well to imagine that Jesus demonstrated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good.

Section VI

(21)   Zech 2:10

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord.

(22)   Is 66:13 (to ;)

As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you;

(23)   John 13:31 Jesus

Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him.

(24)   John 14:16,17 (to 1st ;), 18

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth;

I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

(24)   107:1

In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science. God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the absolute divine Principle of scientific mental healing.

(25)   55:15-22, 27

Truth's immortal idea is sweeping down the centuries, gathering beneath its wings the sick and sinning. My weary hope tries to realize that happy day, when man shall recognize the Science of Christ and love his neighbor as himself, — when he shall realize God's omnipotence and the healing power of the divine Love in what it has done and is doing for mankind. The promises will be fulfilled.

In the words of St. John: "He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever." This Comforter I understand to be Divine Science.

(26)   113:5-6

The vital part, the heart and soul of Christian Science, is Love.

(27)   516:12-13, 21

Love, redolent with unselfishness, bathes all in beauty and light.

Man and woman as coexistent and eternal with God forever reflect, in glorified quality, the infinite Father-Mother God.
