Ps 104:1-3,5,13,16,17 (to :), 24,31

Bless the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majesty.

Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:

Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.

He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.

The trees of the Lord are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;

Where the birds make their nests:

O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

The glory of the Lord shall endure for ever: the Lord shall rejoice in his works.

Section I

( 1) Ezek 34:11,14 (to :)

For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.

I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be:

( 2) Jer 32:41

Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

( 3) Ps 36:6 O Lord, 9 (to :)

O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.

For with thee is the fountain of life:

( 4) I King 17:1-5 (to :), 6

And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord:

And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

( 5) Prov 8:1,17,20,21

Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

( 1) 330:11-12

I. God is infinite, the only Life, substance, Spirit, or Soul, the only intelligence of the universe, including man.

( 2) 477:22

Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.

( 3) 468:17-22 Substance

Substance is that which is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance, as the Scriptures use this word in Hebrews: "The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Spirit, the synonym of Mind, Soul, or God, is the only real substance.

( 4) 477:26

Man is the expression of Soul. The Indians caught some glimpses of the underlying reality, when they called a certain beautiful lake "the smile of the Great Spirit." Separated from man, who expresses Soul, Spirit would be a nonentity; man, divorced from Spirit, would lose his entity. But there is, there can be, no such division, for man is coexistent with God.

( 5) 60:29-31

Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul.

Section II

( 6) II Cor 4:15 all

all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

( 7) Is 42:1 (to 2nd ;)

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;

( 8) II King 10:10 for

for the Lord hath done that which he spake by his servant Elijah.

( 9) I King 17:8-16

And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. And she said, As the Lord thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son. For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth. And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.

(10) II Cor 8:13,14

For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened: But by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may be a supply for their want, that their abundance also may be a supply for your want: that there may be equality:

( 6) 302:1

Soul is not compassed by finiteness. Principle is not to be found in fragmentary ideas.

( 7) 120:4-9

Soul, or Spirit, is God, unchangeable and eternal; and man coexists with and reflects Soul, God, for man is God's image.

Science reverses the false testimony of the physical senses, and by this reversal mortals arrive at the fundamental facts of being.

( 8) 301:17-20

As God is substance and man is the divine image and likeness, man should wish for, and in reality has, only the substance of good, the substance of Spirit, not matter.

( 9) 2:8-11

God is not moved by the breath of praise to do more than He has already done, nor can the infinite do less than bestow all good, since He is unchanging wisdom and Love.

(10) 223:3

Sooner or later we shall learn that the fetters of man's finite capacity are forged by the illusion that he lives in body instead of in Soul, in matter instead of in Spirit.

(11) 125:12-17

As human thought changes from one stage to another of conscious pain and painlessness, sorrow and joy, from fear to hope and from faith to understanding, the visible manifestation will at last be man governed by Soul, not by material sense. Reflecting God's government, man is self-governed.

(12) 518:15-19

The rich in spirit help the poor in one grand brotherhood, all having the same Principle, or Father; and blessed is that man who seeth his brother's need and supplieth it, seeking his own in another's good.

(13) 273:18 (only)

Man is harmonious when governed by Soul.

Section III

(11) Matt 11:1

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

(12) Matt 12:15-18 and

and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; And charged them that they should not make him known: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

(13) Matt17:24-27

And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

(14) Phil 4:19

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

(14) 131:26-30

The mission of Jesus confirmed prophecy, and explained the so-called miracles of olden time as natural demonstrations of the divine power, demonstrations which were not understood. Jesus' works established his claim to the Messiahship.

(15) 30:19

As the individual ideal of Truth, Christ Jesus came to rebuke rabbinical error and all sin, sickness, and death, to point out the way of Truth and Life. This ideal was demonstrated throughout the whole earthly career of Jesus, showing the difference between the offspring of Soul and of material sense, of Truth and of error.

(16) 270:31-1

The life of Christ Jesus was not miraculous, but it was indigenous to his spirituality, the good soil wherein the seed of Truth springs up and bears much fruit.

(17) 508:5-7

The only intelligence or substance of a thought, a seed, or a flower is God, the creator of it. Mind is the Soul of all.

(18) 307:25 The

The divine Mind is the Soul of man, and gives man dominion over all things. Man was not created from a material basis, nor bidden to obey material laws which Spirit never made; his province is in spiritual statutes, in the higher law of Mind.

(19) 466:20-21

Soul or Spirit signifies Deity and nothing else. There is no finite soul nor spirit.

(20) 223:7-8 God

God is infinite omnipresent Spirit.

Section IV

(15) Is 35:1 the desert, 2,4-6 he

the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God.

he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

(16) Is 41:13 I the

I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

(17) Ps 103:1-4

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;

(18) Matt 8:14-16

And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

(19) John 10:10 I am

I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

(21) 92:2-7

of himself.

The fifth erroneous postulate is, that matter holds in itself the issues of life and death, that matter is not only capable of experiencing pleasure and pain, but also capable of imparting these sensations. From the illusion implied in this last postulate arises the decomposition of

(22) 210:11-16

Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation.

(23) 323:17-24

If "faithful over a few things," we shall be made rulers over many; but the one unused talent decays and is lost. When the sick or the sinning awake to realize their need of what they have not, they will be receptive of divine Science, which gravitates towards Soul and away from material sense, removes thought from the body, and elevates even mortal mind to the contemplation of something better than disease or sin.

(24) 376:18-21, 26-27,30

Because the so-called material body is a mental concept and governed by mortal mind, it manifests only what that so-called mind expresses.

Destroy fear, and you end fever.

To fear and admit the power of disease, is to paralyze mental and scientific demonstration.

(25) 395:6-10

Like the great Exemplar, the healer should speak to disease as one having authority over it, leaving Soul to master the false evidences of the corporeal senses and to assert its claims over mortality and disease.

(26) 15:23-26, 28-30

The Master's injunction is, that we pray in secret and let our lives attest our sincerity.

Christians rejoice in secret beauty and bounty, hidden from the world, but known to God.

Practice not profession, understanding not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and they assuredly call down infinite blessings.

Section V

(20) Job 37:14 stand

stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

(21) Job 23:13 what

what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

(22) Ps 63:1,2

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

(23) Ps 136:1,4 (to :), 13 (to 1st :), 16 (to :), 26

O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

To him who alone doeth great wonders:

To him which divided the Red sea into parts:

To him which led his people through the wilderness:

O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

(24) I Chron 29:11

Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.

(25) II Cor 9:8,11,15

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

(27) 107:1,10

In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science. God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the absolute divine Principle of scientific mental healing.

Through Christian Science, religion and medicine are inspired with a diviner nature and essence; fresh pinions are given to faith and understanding, and thoughts acquaint themselves intelligently with God.

(28) 108:1-4

Whence came to me this heavenly conviction, a conviction antagonistic to the testimony of the physical senses? According to St. Paul, it was "the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of His power."

(29) 467:1-4 (to 1st .)

Question. What are the demands of the Science of Soul?

Answer. The first demand of this Science is, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

(30) 9:17

Dost thou "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind"? This command includes much, even the surrender of all merely material sensation, affection, and worship. This is the El Dorado of Christianity. It involves the Science of Life, and recognizes only the divine control of Spirit, in which Soul is our master, and material sense and human will have no place.

(31) 566:1-9

As the children of Israel were guided triumphantly through the Red Sea, the dark ebbing and flowing tides of human fear, as they were led through the wilderness, walking wearily through the great desert of human hopes, and anticipating the promised joy, so shall the spiritual idea guide all right desires in their passage from sense to Soul, from a material sense of existence to the spiritual, up to the glory prepared for them who love God.
