Is 55:6; 29:17-19

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Is it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Ps 66:1,2,7 (to ;),8,9,16; 107:9

Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.

He ruleth by his power for ever;

O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:

Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Section I

( 1) Ps 34:3,4,8,15,22

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

( 2) Ps 19:7,9

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

( 3) Job 23:13 he, 14

he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth. For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

( 1) 466:20-23

Soul or Spirit signifies Deity and nothing else. There is no finite soul nor spirit. Soul or Spirit means only one Mind, and cannot be rendered in the plural.

( 2) 482:9

As used in Christian Science, Soul is properly the synonym of Spirit, or God; but out of Science, soul is identical with sense, with material sensation.

( 3) 359:11

Even though you aver that the material senses are indispensable to man's existence or entity, you must change the human concept of life, and must at length know yourself spiritually and scientifically. The evidence of the existence of Spirit, Soul, is palpable only to spiritual sense, and is not apparent to the material senses, which cognize only that which is the opposite of Spirit.

( 4) 477:7,22

Soul, being Spirit, is seen in nothing imperfect nor material.

Soul is the substance, Life, and intelligence of man, which is individualized, but not in matter. Soul can never reflect anything inferior to Spirit.

( 5) 209:31-32

Spiritual sense is a conscious, constant capacity to understand God.

( 6) 120:4

Soul, or Spirit, is God, unchangeable and eternal; and man coexists with and reflects Soul, God, for man is God's image.

Section II

( 4) Hab 1:12 (to ?), 13 (to :)

Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One?

Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity:

( 5) Ps 3:2,3,8

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

( 6) Ps 119:174, 176

I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my delight.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

( 7) I John 3:7 (to :), 9

Little children, let no man deceive you:

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

( 8) I Thess 4:7 God

God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

( 7) 481:28-29

Soul is the divine Principle of man and never sins, hence the immortality of Soul.

( 8) 311:7-9, 12-25

Soul is immortal because it is Spirit, which has no element of self-destruction. Is man lost spiritually? No, he can only lose a sense material.

It is a sense of sin, and not a sinful soul, which is lost. Evil is destroyed by the sense of good.

Through false estimates of soul as dwelling in sense and of mind as dwelling in matter, belief strays into a sense of temporary loss or absence of soul, spiritual truth. This state of error is the mortal dream of life and substance as existent in matter, and is directly opposite to the immortal reality of being. So long as we believe that soul can sin or that immortal Soul is in mortal body, we can never understand the Science of being. When humanity does understand this Science, it will become the law of Life to man, even the higher law of Soul, which prevails over material sense through harmony and immortality.

( 9) 492:7-12

Being is holiness, harmony, immortality. It is already proved that a knowledge of this, even in small degree, will uplift the physical and moral standard of mortals, will increase longevity, will purify and elevate character. Thus progress will finally destroy all error, and bring immortality to light.

Section III

( 9) Is 48:17 I am

I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.

(10) Is 55:3 (to :)

Incline your ear, and come unto me:

(11) I Sam 3:1 (to 1st .), 2-6,8-10,19

And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli.

And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; That the Lord called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I. And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down. And the Lord called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

(12) Ps 85:8 (to 2nd :)

I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints:

(10) 213:17 Divine, 30

Divine Science reveals sound as communicated through the senses of Soul through spiritual understanding.

Before human knowledge dipped to its depths into a false sense of things, into belief in material origins which discard the one Mind and true source of being, it is possible that the impressions from Truth were as distinct as sound, and that they came as sound to the primitive prophets. If the medium of hearing is wholly spiritual, it is normal and indestructible.

(11) 214:14

When it is learned that the spiritual sense, and not the material, conveys the impressions of Mind to man, then being will be understood and found to be harmonious.

(12) 298:13-15, 20

Spiritual sense, contradicting the material senses, involves intuition, hope, faith, understanding, fruition, reality.

Spiritual ideas, like numbers and notes, start from Principle, and admit no materialistic beliefs. Spiritual ideas lead up to their divine origin, God, and to the spiritual sense of being.

(13) 323:29-2

It is the "still, small voice" of Truth uttering itself. We are either turning away from this utterance, or we are listening to it and going up higher. Willingness to become as a little child and to leave the old for the new, renders thought receptive of the advanced idea.

(14) 72:9-12 As

As light destroys darkness and in the place of darkness all is light, so (in absolute Science) Soul, or God, is the only truth-giver to man.

Setion IV

(13) Is 42:1 (to 2nd ;), 6,7,18

Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;

I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

Hear, ye deaf; and look, ye blind, that ye may see.

(14) Matt 9:35

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

(15) Matt 15:30,31

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

(15) 210:11

Knowing that Soul and its attributes were forever manifested through man, the Master healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, hearing to the deaf, feet to the lame, thus bringing to light the scientific action of the divine Mind on human minds and bodies and giving a better understanding of Soul and salvation. Jesus healed sickness and sin by one and the same metaphysical process.

(16) 269:14-20

Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul.

These ideas are perfectly real and tangible to spiritual consciousness, and they have this advantage over the objects and thoughts of material sense, they are good and eternal.

(17) 586:3

EYES. Spiritual discernment, not material but mental.

(18) 585:1

EARS. Not organs of the so-called corporeal senses, but spiritual understanding.

(19) 214:28-30

Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul, and there are no other real senses.

(20) 487:6

There is more Christianity in seeing and hearing spiritually than materially. There is more Science in the perpetual exercise of the Mind-faculties than in their loss. Lost they cannot be, while Mind remains. The apprehension of this gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf centuries ago, and it will repeat the wonder.

(21) 316:20-21

Christ presents the indestructible man, whom Spirit creates, constitutes, and governs.

Section V

(16) Is 58:10 if

if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday:

(17) Luke 8:40

And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

(18) Luke 9:1,2

Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

(19) Luke 10:1,2,23 Blessed

After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:

(20) II Cor 4:1,3,4,17,18

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

(22) 322:3

When understanding changes the standpoints of life and intelligence from a material to a spiritual basis, we shall gain the reality of Life, the control of Soul over sense, and we shall perceive Christianity, or Truth, in its divine Principle. This must be the climax before harmonious and immortal man is obtained and his capabilities revealed. It is highly important in view of the immense work to be accomplished before this recognition of divine Science can come to turn our thoughts towards divine Principle, that finite belief may be prepared to relinquish its error.

(23) 120:17

The Science of Mind-healing shows it to be impossible for aught but Mind to testify truly or to exhibit the real status of man. Therefore the divine Principle of Science, reversing the testimony of the physical senses, reveals man as harmoniously existent in Truth, which is the only basis of health; and thus Science denies all disease, heals the sick, overthrows false evidence, and refutes materialistic logic.

(24) 420:28-32

If it becomes necessary to startle mortal mind to break its dream of suffering, vehemently tell your patient that he must awake. Turn his gaze from the false evidence of the senses to the harmonious facts of Soul and immortal being.

(25) 396:26

Keep distinctly in thought that man is the offspring of God, not of man; that man is spiritual, not material; that Soul is Spirit, outside of matter, never in it, never giving the body life and sensation. It breaks the dream of disease to understand that sickness is formed by the human mind, not by matter nor by the divine Mind.

(26) 273:16

The so-called laws of matter and of medical science have never made mortals whole, harmonious, and immortal. Man is harmonious when governed by Soul. Hence the importance of understanding the truth of being, which reveals the laws of spiritual existence.

(27) 285:27

As mortals reach, through knowledge of Christian Science, a higher sense, they will seek to learn, not from matter, but from the divine Principle, God, how to demonstrate the Christ, Truth, as the healing and saving power.

Section VI

(21) III John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

(22) Ps 133:3 the Lord

the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

(23) Is 51:11 the

the redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

(24) Jer 31:8,12 and there, 14 my

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord.

(25) Jer 32:41 I will

I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

(28) 60:2,29-31

Science inevitably lifts one's being higher in the scale of harmony and happiness.

Soul has infinite resources with which to bless mankind, and happiness would be more readily attained and would be more secure in our keeping, if sought in Soul.

(29) 390:9

Truth will at length compel us all to exchange the pleasures and pains of sense for the joys of Soul.

(30) 15:25-30

Christians rejoice in secret beauty and bounty, hidden from the world, but known to God. Self-forgetfulness, purity, and affection are constant prayers. Practice not profession, understanding not belief, gain the ear and right hand of omnipotence and they assuredly call down infinite blessings.
